Foxes,
Geese and.. Our Favorite Mittens Are BACK!! No more haunting
ebay for a used copy!
How
did we choose our book suggestions?
If you had any idea how time consuming
it is to build a page like this you'd know that each and every
book on this page was carefully considered! We start
our list with some basic reference volumes and then go for
the ones which are sheer inspiration. These are books
love for their visual appeal as much as for their content,
or for their historical perspective on the craft of knitting.
At the end we've included some books on felting, compliments
of our friend Robin from Robin's
Hoods Hats for those who are interested
in trying felting.
Reference Books
and Basic Texts
A must have reference if you'd
like to design your own
The Zimmerman Classic!
Another solid classic.
Foxes,
Geese and.. Our Favorite Mittens Are BACK!!
Sweater Inspirations
Books like Alice's are
just a delight to hold and review.. every library should
have one or two of these on hand to help spark the imagination.
Sock Inspirations
Called "small projects"
socks, mittens, scarves, and hats, are portable projects
which can be as complicated and fanciful as a knitter
could wish for. We love working on small projects!
Mittens for the obsessed (from
the Farm at Morrison Corner)
Practical and durable,
wool mittens are a great way to introduce a young person
to the art of knitting, which is why "Sonny's Mittens"
is included here.
Shawl Inspirations
A friend confesses she's
bought three lace knitting books just to admire the
work!
Advance Knitting and Patterns
from Maine
The Maine Island books
are now classics, and getting harder to find.
The patterns are nice, but the photography and picture
of life on a Maine Island is worth the cover price.
Felting (from Robin's Hoods)
Felting
projects can be large, small, complicated or creative.
Harrisville makes a nice beginning felting kit we've
included here because it will get you (or your child)
started on a nice successful project right away.
